I also wanted to use some of it in a quick pasta dish the next day. The recipe for the kedgeree risotto was originally published in "Feast" but Nigella has very kindly shared it on her website here
My sister and I made these together and served them with lamb steaks and Nigella's rapid roastini. I love a mushroom risotto and mushrooms with pasta especially, but a nice big stuffed portobello mushroom makes a really nice side dish for a great variety of meals
I saw this recipe on the newly slim Nigellas cookery programme Nigellisima. It cooks much quicker than a normal risotto as orzo pasta is used instead of risotto rice
Moving on to Light meals, snacks and lunchboxes, there are some classics like Welsh Rarebit and Chicken pasta salad, but also some standouts like 'My Favourite chicken and potato salad' which I plan to make at the weekend
They took a bit of chopping up because they are kind of 'hollow', so when you slice you get a little green circle, and it needs to be quite small to go in the meatballs, but I treated them a little like herbs and used a mezza luna (one of those semi circular knives with a handles at each end that Nigella uses)
Recipe Junkie and the Attack of the Custard Creams
A second batch of pinwheels made to accompany Nigella Orzo PastaRisotto. Clearly pasta doesn't make you fasta as my race time was well short of a PB but I am still carrying a whiplash injury from a car crash last year
Another big hit this week was Nigella's Broccoli and Stilton Soup. Pea & Pancetta PastaRisotto. Pasta bake is a great comfort food and Simon Hopkinson's Baked Pappardelle with Pancetta and Porcini is always a winner
For this reason alone, and the thought of not having to have pasta/risotto/peppers again, I am thoroughly excited to see what the rest of the recipes are and might gently direct my friends and local bistro pubs to its contents
