This cake evolved from a Nigella recipe and a rainy afternoon activity with Isaac, who is rather partial to chocolatecake and munching on walnuts while mummy mixes (many batches of banana cake from spotty bananas have meant walnut munching is now a baking staple)
Lemon Polentacake, adapted from Nigella. Nigella notes that you can make this cake entirely gluten-free if you don’t have gluten-free baking powder by beating all the ingredients really hard at that this point
the most passover popular cake is an almond chocolatecake that I have made on this blog before but this lemon and polentacake is a little fresher and to be honest i've pretty much had my fill of chocolate recently
Nigella’s Olive Oil ChocolateCake available on her website. I’m not a huge fan of chocolatecake, although you’ll find a couple in my list of favourites here
Gluten Free Chocolate Brownies. the basic polentacake recipe is one I’ve been using for years, in various forms, and inspired by a lemon polentacake from good old Nigella
Chocolate Chestnut Truffle Cake by Kellie at Food to Glow. Like me, she is not overly crazy about chocolate, but says this recipe is her favourite – I can see why
next, please welcome a Random Recipes Virgin (RRV) its Vanessa from Cakes and Teacups with this rather wonderful looking Valentine Flourless ChocolateCake taken from Sophie Dahl's Voluptuous Delights
Coffee, cardamom, chocolate mousse cake – Tin & Thyme. Cardamom is not just for savoury dishes though, it pairs well with chocolate and is of course excellent in Swedish cardamom buns
Not too sweet, it could be eaten any time of day and takes easily both to adornments like coulis or whipped cream, as well as nuts, fruit or bits of chocolate
For any gluten free person who has made you eat a polentacake or some other mad textured cake, do share this and tell them to put down the xantham gum because all is not lost
The bake came an honourable second behind the most popular one, the chocolatecake. The addition of white chocolate could only improve things and would allow it to appear on Chocolate Log Blog
Choclette from Chocolate Log Blog came across a Delia Smith recipe for an Iced Honey and Spice cake. Suelle from Mainly Baking made this delicious Italian pine nut tart which has a layer of chocolate hazelnut spread inside
Ros at The More Than Occasional Baker, who is my co-host for Alphabakes, made this chocolate olive oil cake from a Nigella recipe which she says was spectacular and one of the best chocolatecakes she has eaten in a long time
and now yet another random recipes virgin, this time from Rachel from My Life In Knitwear with a stunning recipe for ChocolateCupcakes with a Rose Marshmallow topping taken from Sweet Paris by Michael Paul
next up is Sarah from Sezza Knits with a very nice and naughtily boozy, picture perfect, Chocolate Raisin Cake taken from Bake Essential Companion by Alison Thompson
