This week was also the launch of the NEW Tea Time Treats challenge, which I am delighted to say, has linked up with Dom’s Random Recipes, for ONE crazy fun-filled month……you can read all about it here
TheFastDiet, as well as on my blog here. But, it doesn’t have to be that way, and after a couple of experiments on some willing guinea pigs, I have devised a low-calorie and totally delectable pancake recipe for fast days OR for a healthy breakfast for those on the go, Blueberry and Oat Pancakes with Cinnamon
As I did last year, I am linking up with Mrs M’s Meal Planning Monday with my plan, such a great idea to share meal plans, as well as pick up new ideas
basically, on the “points” diet that I have always followed, (and I think that the Pro Points diet may be the same) if you KNOW you have a day coming up where you are going out for a meal or you will be eating MORE than your daily recommended daily points allowance, you can “save” some of your points up from days where you go BELOW your daily allowance, BUT only over the period of ONE WEEK = Fast days then
I always makes a batch of this up along with my soup recipe in readiness for my two low-calorie fast days, as it’s all prepared and ready to snack on, as well as making a GREAT fruity kick-start breakfast for the start of the day
I enjoyed this today as part of my fast day menu, (the full week’s menu for the Lavender and Lovage household will follow on) and even Malcolm loved it, although I was kind and served his with some bread and a wee glass of wine
I am sharing my latest recipe with you in this post, my FIRST new breakfastrecipe, for an easy Full English Breakfast that is baked in the oven, just leaving you to fry, scramble or poach the eggs and make the toast and a pot of tea of course
But with the start back to school for the Autumn term, my ideas turned to portable food that would be handy for anyone who wanted to lovely packed lunch on theirfast days……this salad is an adapted recipe from an OLD Weight Watcher’s cookbook and I have added my stamp on it – it’s full of flavour, hearty and filling and I just LOVE the minty lemon dressing
I love fish, and often reach for a nice piece of fish for my main meal, especially when “fasting” on my low-calorie day, but, a change is as good as a rest as they say, and chicken breasts (skinned) are a dieter’s friend
Again all nuts and seeds except peanuts as these are a legume, are paleo, cashews are highest in fat so limit those, the rest are high in good fats, calories and nutrients, just limit yourself to a good handful a day or slight larger portions for granola breakfasts, if weight loss is required then keep to a small handful a day
As with my previous blog posts on healthy lunches and breakfasts, all my suggestions are made from REAL food and follow thetheory that a plant based diet will give optimum health
I have been busy baking for Easter, and you may remember my latest recipe for Hot Cross Buns in the style of Brioche, as well as my more traditional Hot Cross Buns – both recipes have been made this year already, ready for breakfast and Easter tea time treats
Peel away the string, aluminium foil, onion skins and arrange the coloured eggs in a basket or egg holder - for the centre of the Easter Breakfast, Tea or Brunch table
