I first heard of this RachelAllen concoction through my colleague, Hannah (who is an incredible baker- you can check out her works of art on Instagram here)
RachelAllen’s recipe is delicious – very moist and nicely spiced. Filled with cold custard or whipped cream and topped with chocolate these are decadent and – yes, believe it
The top 3 baking books I have are simply RachelAllen's "Bake" which is great for Sweet and Savoury things I also have Nigella's "How to be a Domestic Goddess" which causes much amusement and teasing from big hairy arsed Chefs (And that's just the female Chefs I know) when I get it out to do her Chocolate Brownie recipe from it in the kitchen
The beef, salsa and salad all come from Rachel’s Favourite Food at Home by RachelAllen. I’m hoping soon to manage to fit in some of the more time consuming recipes like Bbbbbb-Brownies (mint brownies), Applesauce Spice Bars, Snickery Squares, Perfect Party Cake (this one is so pretty), Caramel-Peanut Topped Brownie Cake, Chocolate Armagnac Cake – The cake That Got Me Fired, Chocolate Whisky Cake, My Favourite Pecan Pie, The Most Extraordinary French Lemon Cream Tart, Banana Cream Pie, Tropical Crumble and Unbelievably Good Chocolate Blueberry Ice cream
this time from Charlotte over at Charlotte's Kitchen Diary with these really lovely looking Sweetcorn Fritters taken from Entertaining at Home by RachelAllen
and here's Anne from Anne's Kitchen with a Thai Turkey with Coconut Coriander sauce randomly chosen from Rachel's Favourite Food at Home by RachelAllen
Basic Cookie Recipe, and double chocolate chip variation, from Bake by RachelAllen. They are from RachelAllen’s book, Bake, just like the oaty ones last week
With thanks to RachelAllen from whose book Bake I got the original, even sweeter, version. Then add in flour, baking powder and chocolate, mix in with a spoon or spatula
I always rub my flour and butter together to make bread crumbs then add sugar , oats and cinnamon – but in RachelAllen’s recipe for Rhubarb, plum & cardamon crumble, she prepares her dry ingredients then pours on melted butter and quickly mixes – It did provide a dense crumble topping but I found quite clumpy – I think in future I’ll stick to my usual, on saying that with the bowl placed dangerously near to my place, I did manage to secretly have a few portions
Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and set over a saucepan of simmering water. Beat in the puréed beetroot and melted chocolate, then sift in the remaining ingredients, folding these in until fully combined
