The blackberry compote was a NigelSlater one. I used what I wanted and stored the rest in a glass jam jar and later that week in a crumble, it would be amazing over vanilla ice cream
Nigel'srecipes always are. plums, pears or apples, or even a combination. We both enjoyed these very much and I can see that this recipe would work very well with all sorts of fruits and berries
I also found the toffee sauce to be a little too fruity for me due to the golden syrup, so if I were to bake this again I would use the toffee sauce recipe from NigelSlater's sticky toffee pudding, albeit slightly more indulgent
