I love a good Bakewell, whether it's the authentic way with flaked almonds instead of icing sugar or whether it's the commercial way with globs of icing sugar and a plump, candied cherry or whether it's MaryBerry's controversial recipe
As one of our friends is a coeliac, I cook all dishes glutenfree when they come for dinner. Last year I also cooked glutenfree blini, but this time I added some mashed potatoes to the recipe, and the little pancakes turned out to be very fluffy and thick
Jen made MaryBerry’s lemon yoghurt cake last year and enjoyed the taste and texture that the yoghurt gave to the cake, so that was the inspiration for this recipe, and I think her cakes look SO pretty as well as sounding wonderful with all those great ingredients
And the winner of the LOVELY book, MaryBerry’s Ultimate Cake Book, goes to………. Vanessa from Cakes and Teacups for her LOVELY Black Forest Gateau, as this was the FIRST time she has ever attempted anything like this, and she will really benefit from the Mary Bery book as a novice cake maker, plus, her Black Forest Gateau was GORGEOUS
I need to thank HRH MaryBerry for this recipe – It is one of my favourites of her, a Lemon Drizzle Cake but obviously amended to turn into an Orange Drizzle Cake
