The original recipe was by MaryBerry which I have adapted slightly. This is a gorgeous seasonal recipe which can be adapted all year round by using whatever firm fruit is seasonal, or even tinned fruit such as apricots or pears
MaryBerry’s Cherry Cake. Strawberry Daiquiri – Cocktails and Cupcakes. FRANGIPANE FILLING. Now we are all clear about that fact you can make your very own courtesy of Mr Paul Hollywood’s recipe for Bakewell Tart which is taken from his brand new book called British Baking
I love a good Bakewell, whether it's the authentic way with flaked almonds instead of icing sugar or whether it's the commercial way with globs of icing sugar and a plump, candied cherry or whether it's MaryBerry's controversial recipe
And the next half hour was spent in awe of Mary as she demonstrated tips and tricks to make delicious mini brownie cupcakes and a suitably festive mincemeat frangipanetart (both of the recipes can be found on the Taste of Christmas website)
Of course, if you are a plum-phobe, feel free to mix up the fruit (although do be careful to not use incredibly moist fruit as it will create a crumbly mess and a soggy bottom – however delicious it will remain, MaryBerry would not approve) and if you really like your almond flavours, amplify it even more with a tablespoon or so of Amaretto
