It's national baking day, so I had to bake, and looking at my books it was clear which one I had to choose a recipe from, after all MaryBerry is the queen of baking
Decorate kites with flaked almonds and pinwheels with glace cherries. Arrange on buttered baking trays and leave to rise in a warm place for 20 minutes. Brush with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (200°C fan, Gas 7) for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Paul and Mary were looking for a dry biscuit with a good snap, but not so dry it breaks your teeth. My favourite's were Tamal's Cinnamon, Maple & Cranberry Biscotti
That'll be the non-stick rounded fluted tin used in the MaryBerry's Cherry Cake Technical Challenge rather than Stormin' Norman's Swiss Roll skateboard presentation platter
Once I’d made and tried one they actually reminded me of an earlier recipe I baked a while back now from MaryBerry’s Baking Bible – Hazelnut Meringue Cake
A recipe from MaryBerry's baking bible itself. Mary's fear inducing comment to the bakers before they started was that they should be "sheer perfection"
They were following a MaryBerry recipe. Mary said the biscuit had simple ingredients but the bakers needed to make sure the butter was soft enough otherwise the mixture would be too stiff for piping
The puff pastry was soggy (had a soggy bottom, as MaryBerry would say), and in an attempt to fix that, I overcooked the meat AND set the baking paper underneath it on fire (don’t place those things too close to the grill, people)
Week four of The Great British Bake Off is desserts week – I wonder what fabulous creations the contestants will come up with – something chocolatey, something boozy maybe, that will please MaryBerry
