I say healthier rather than healthy as this date flapjack still contains dairy free spread and sugar – although less than a third of a regular flapjack – and I have added a tablespoon of golden syrup to try and replicate some of the traditional taste
One of my favourite childhood treats was a big slice of gooey, syrupy flapjack. But after discovering how unhealthy they are for you, I decided to make these guilt-free, vegan, refined sugarfree and totally healthy flapjacks
Add the cocoa powder, maplesyrup and vanilla essence to the coconut oil. This chocolate recipe is completely dairy free, gluten free and free from refined sugar, so healthier than standard shop bought chocolate whilst still being delicious
This recipe is free from refined sugar, instead using date syrup to sweeten the mixture. Heat the nut butter, coconut oil and date syrup into a saucepan over a medium heat
Melt the coconut oil in a large pan, take off the heat and add the maplesyrup. No butter or sugar is used in this recipe and they are also completely vegan and gluten free
Obviously this one is covered in sugar and maplesyrup so they're not as healthy as they could be but it's inspired me to get more creative with this little seeds that come free inside my pumpkin
You can also make a very yummy maple and pecan special edition by swapping the honey for maplesyrup and using roughly chopped pecans in place of the almonds
These healthy flapjacks are gluten free, vegan and contain no refined sugar. I made these delicious Cherry bakewell flavoured healthy flapjacks over the weekend and they were so delicious so of course I had to share the recipe with you
Prepare the bottom layer - in a blender or food processor, blitz the beetroot and bananas to a purée then add the oats, syrup/honey and nuts and pulse a few times until finely chopped (but not a completely smooth paste)
