If I’d had some oven chips I might have cooked some to go on the side too. Then bingo the Tefal ActiFry caught my eye and I knew that it would be perfect for the job of roasting my chicken thighs in a really efficient way and with minimal mess
At first I only used it to make standard potato chips or wedges which by the way are insanely good. I have had my ActiFry for quite a while now and we use it at least once a week
If you are using an ActiFry, I removed the paddle that shuffles the chips around to make these. However, the lure of healthy chips was too much for me to resist
My oven broke down a few months ago and it was such a relief to be able to pull the Actifry out and it made me realise there is so much more to it than just healthy fries or chips
I remember when I first had my Actifry that I thought you just used it to cook healthier versions of your favourite fast foods such as chips but I have since realised you can cook pretty much anything in it
Cauliflower “Rice” in the Tefal Actifry. We all know what normal chips taste like (bloody amazing, that’s what), and while many of us are familiar with the delights of sweet potato and butternut squash chips… perhaps you’re not so aufait with the thought of swede ones
The Actifry will then start up, stirring the chips so they cook evenly. It's a small(ish) appliance (more on that later), that sits on your kitchen worktop and, at the push of a button, will fry chips, meat or other veggies
The guide that comes in the box tells you the amount of oil and timings you should use with the most common dishes such as chips, chicken breast, frozen stews, fresh fruit and chopped vegetables
Later in the evening, we used the ActiFry to cook the classic chips and they were crunchy and yum. The icing on the cake of course was when I received a TEFAL ActiFry Smart XL to review
1500g of yukon gold potatoes (or similar waxy Yellow/Gold potatoes), sliced into chips. 1and place in the oven to bake for 40 mins till golden, turning over half way through cooking time (if you have an actifry, feel free too cook those in that instead). 1Serve the fish with the chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. 1Don't forget to add plenty of salt and vinegar to those chips
