Wintervegetableand barley soup. Barley has a lovely, unique flavour and I wanted to make a soup using it, so I googled a recipe (and please forgive me but I found this one on the Daily Fail website)

This is not a recipe that will win points for beauty, innovation or excitement. The flavourings in this come from oregano, paprika and maple syrup - as well as the vegetables themselves, of course
