The portion size is quite generous, but I chose not to make rice for my own supper, instead wilting some spinach and mixing themwith some softened onion, cumin andcoriander
well, what with doing my Wartime Kitchen and preparing for Christmas, I have not had time to post any meal plans, or indeed any of my new recipes, but, I am rectifying that today with a NEW recipe that’s just right for all the snow and frost we have been having over the last few days – a Scottish inspired Highland Stew
it’s great as an accompaniment to any meal, as well as being wonderful when made for the buffet table – Coronation Potato Salad - and just in time for New Year
I often hanker after tasty “fast food” types of food when I am on a diet, and although I have never really found a decent chicken kebab outside of Cyprus (or Turkey and Greece) I do love a good take-away kebab now andthen
However, it fits right into my schedule this week to fast on Mondayand Wednesday, which leaves the rest of the week andthe weekend to have fun in the kitchen with my new cookbooks that I received for Christmas
My MondayMeal Plan this week has slid to a Tuesday – as you know if you have been reading and following my blog over the last few days, I have been SO busy with a houseful of guests, cleaning, cooking, gardening, packing (I am off on my travels tomorrow) and that left me only a few hours, or should I say and hour, in evening to write my blog, do round-ups (the Herbs on Saturday round-up is following on later today) and all theother stuff I love doing here
I am rather pleased with this recipe, not just because it is very filling and extremely flavoursome, but because my husband, who is NOT following any diet, asked if he could have some for his lunch, as the aromatic fragrance of the lemons, cumin and garlic infused the kitchen and apparently titillated his taste buds
The Marmalade has been made, for my grand entry into the World’s Original Marmalade Awards, British Farmhouse Breakfast Week is over and January is about to slither out in either an avalanche of snow or a deluge of flooding, and, it is anotherMealPlanningMonday post – WHERE did last week go
Mushrooms or tomatoes on toast, as well as egg on toast is a close second, and when I saw some lovely fresh and VERY seasonal autumn mushrooms at the market theother day, I set out to prove that you CAN have your “on toast” treat on a diet, that is tasty and full of flavour
And yes, I have not posted in two days, which is VERY unusual for me, but I have lots of lovely recipes to share with you over the next few days, as well as some reviews, news, giveaways and a weekly meal plan too……along with photos and my daily thoughts, I hope to be back on track (excuse the pun – all this talk of trains has obviously affected me) very soon
however, I have posted a few previous meal plan links below, so you may gather inspiration from them, and I am also linking this post to Mrs M’s MealPlanningMonday post too…
I enjoyed this today as part of my fast day menu, (the full week’s menu for the Lavender and Lovage household will follow on) and even Malcolm loved it, although I was kind and served his with some bread and a wee glass of wine
My MondayMeal Plans have been shunted to Mid-Week Meal Plans lately – but in one way, I prefer it, as I usually know what I am having on Mondayand Tuesday, but it’s the rest of the week I sometimes have issues with, and once I have been shopping at the beginning of the week I am better placed and organised to plan ahead
I am sharing my latest recipewith you in this post, my FIRST new breakfastrecipe, for an easy Full English Breakfast that is baked in the oven, just leaving you to fry, scramble or poach the eggs and make the toast and a pot of tea of course
But withthe start back to school for the Autumn term, my ideas turned to portable food that would be handy for anyone who wanted to lovely packed lunch on theirfast days……this salad is an adapted recipe from an OLD Weight Watcher’s cookbook and I have added my stamp on it – it’s full of flavour, hearty and filling and I just LOVE the minty lemon dressing
Meal type. I made a noodle and vegetable stirfry to go withthe chicken – if I’d had the spare calories, I might have cooked some riceandthe vegetables would have been added into the sweet and sour mix instead, but shirataki noodles, while filling, really do need to be cooked with something
