I love Indian snacky things like Pakoras anyway so to find a synfree version made me really happy. Mix together then add curry powder and fat free yoghurt
Serve with good old synfree mash and lots of speed vegetables for the ultimate comfort food. Now it isn’t going to be synfree, but you can’t expect real mince and dumplings to be synfree can you
It’s all synfree so you can add as much extra as you like without it affecting the syn value. It doesn’t have that artificial taste that most other sweeteners do, which makes it perfect for recipes that call for brown sugar
We’ve topped this one with some chicken, sweetcorn and mushrooms. We made a synfree Tomato sauce base, which you can make in advance and keep it in the fridge for up to a week, or you can portion it up and keep it in the freezer
The other problem was thickening the sauce, the sweetchillisauce went someway to solving the problem as did using oyster sauce (synfree) rather than the more usual soy sauce
One of the things I really try to do with my pudding or cake recipes is to make them as close as possible to the real thing, my synfree cheesecake for example is an actual cheesecake, and in a similar way this is an actual cake
For this one, baby corn, courgette and sugar snap peas are ideal, and along with the spring onions, peppers and mushrooms give you a huge helping of speed, but of course you can use what ever veg you want
I also served this withsweet potato fries. I tend to keep a bag of these in the freezer as I’m the only one who likes sweet potato fries so it’s quick and easy to whip out a single portion for myself
For anyone who isn’t a fan of quark, these could also be made using fat free yoghurt, but if you do that try to go for a thicker smooth one, and it does work better with Quark…which you really can’t taste
We had chilli in them at the weekend & added some cheese on top. The Xanthan gum will thicken the sauce and stabilise it so it doesn’t split whilst it’s in the oven
It should thicken pretty much straight away, but if it's not quite thick enough add a tiny bit more Xanthan Gum and stir againToss in the pineapple, stir and remove from the heat straight awayServe with rice or noodles and a sprinkling of freshly chopped spring onions NOTES
) for a synfree alternative. - Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough. As you will probably know SlimmingWorld have brought out some new recommendations regarding the syn value of granulated sweeteners
If you drain the rice and then pour a kettle of boiling water over it the rice will not stick together as muchMist your wok or frying pan with FrylightOver a medium heat add the onions and peppers, then cook for a few minutesAdd the peas, sweetcorn and mushrooms and cook until they just start to colourStir in the soy sauce and oyster sauce and allow to cook for another couple of minutesAdd the egg and chicken pieces, mix wellStir in the cooked rice and allow to cook, stirring continuously, until it is piping hotStir in some more soy sauce if you want, then serve with curry sauce NOTES
Extra Easy Syn Value- Free. I was watching something the other day, I can't even remember what, and they were eating something off the KFC menu, 'Famous Bowls- Creamy mashed potatoes, sweet corn and bite-sized chunks of crispy chicken are layered together then drizzled with home-style gravy and topped with a perfect blend of three shredded cheeses'
And most importantly for us they don’t have that nasty aftertaste and they are synfree. Sukrin make a range of sugar substitutes, that are all natural, that are free from calories and carbohydrates
