  • Fruity layer
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 50 g butter
  • 25 g brown sugar
  • 40 g flaked almonds
  • 40 g glacé cherries, quartered
  • 25 g sultanas
  • 25 g stem ginger, finely chopped
  • 175 g soft butter (auntie did half butter half stork)
  • 175 g caster sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 175 g self-raising flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 heaped tablespoon ground ginger
