It’s Friday and that can only mean one thing, my weekly Fish on Friday post, and a NEW and very easy recipe, Easy SmokedHaddock and Salmon au Gratin – an elegant and comforting meal that is made with TOP quality Scottish smokedhaddock, with thanks to John at Delish Fish
Make a few pots of this spread up before a party, and then pop them on a big wooden board with bread, toast or oatcakes, with a few green leaves, perfect for the buffet table as well as a homely, family supper or snack
I used smoked cod and smokedhaddock for this dish, and I picked the dyed stuff for colour. baking, cake, cakes and biscuity things, eggs, Fish, food, Food photos, pastry, potatoes, sausages, seafood, soup, vegetables, vegetarian Tagged
I wanted a big chunk of cod so I could make some fairly hefty fish fingers but while perusing the fish aisle in the supermarket I spotted some smokedhaddock
A family favourite, these fishcakes are an easy win to please everyone round the table. The mixture might be a bit sticky so a sprinkling of gluten free flour will help stop the cakes sticking to your hands too much
My fishcakes are made with wild hake fish (not pre-cooked) and spices, no potatoes included, I mashed the fish using food processor and added spices, you can use tuna or salmon instead
Nevertheless, a handful of recipe suggestions were eventually teased out of her and, on the Wednesday, I tried my hand at an adaptation of a 'Syn-Free' Slimming World recipe for a vegetarian/vegan paella, with a bit of fish added because we happened to have it in the freezer, otherwise unused
For the FishCakes. For the Fishcakes. For the FishCakes. 200g skinless Haddock, Salmon, Hake or Cod cut in small dice. Heat a frying pan until hot and add 2 tablespoons of oil, the fish and the ground coriander, cook until the fish is just opaque, transfer the fish to a bowl and mix in the rest of the ingredients except the egg. Add enough egg to form a softish mixture, using wet hands form four large fishcakes or 8 smaller ones. 200g skinless Haddock, Salmon, Hake or Cod cut in small dice
These fishcakes are perfect for lunch boxes and in low-carb salads. White fish which is naturally low in fat and high in protein may not seem suitable for the ketogenic diet
Cakes, Fish, haddock. I had two lovely pieces of haddock fillet – then found there would be three of us for supper and this is a great way of making expensive fish go further
I had some salmon in the freezer this week, that I really wanted to use up, and the kids were protesting about more fishcakes and fish pie, so I thought Id have a go at a filo version of fish pie, as its a bit lighter than with mash, or puff pastry
