My slowcooker spends most of the year gathering dust in the back of a cupboard, but each year, around October time, I suddenly yearn for the comfort of a slow cooked meal
There is the obvious stews and casseroles, and I'm sure we will do plenty of those in good time, but I think the slowcooker lends itself to cooking lambshanks perfectly
As I knew I would have a busy day, I got the slowcooker out this morning. This is the season for local lamb and it was the cheapest meat in my local butchers when I went last
I think that curry is something that the slowcooker was made for and slow-cookedlamb is pretty much to die for so I searched high and low for a recipe that I liked the sound of, then naturally adapted it – if only to make it cheaper by removing things like saffron
I put it in the slowcooker at midnight, and was woken to the most wonderful smells A. I got a huge shoulder of lamb from Sainsburys, over £22 worth reduced to £6
I knew that I wanted to use the slowcooker with the lambshanks, as being well worked leg muscles, they would require long slow cooking to achieve that buttery, melting texture that is so mouthwatering
2 – 3 pounds of beef shanks. Related 2 – 3 pounds of beef shanks. I love my crock pot. And this meal is so quick and simple, it takes about 10 minutes of your time in the morning and about 10 minutes in the evening to serve
), but it is full of flavour and I am a total sucker for slow cooked lamb in any form. Today I want to share with you my LambRoganJosh and on Thursday I will be sharing my recipe for Easy Peasy Pilau Rice, which would go brilliantly with any of my curry recipes, but especially this LambRoganJosh
