Add sugar to a heavy sauce pan on med-high. This cupcake has everything that I want in a cupcake, perfectly moist vanilla cupcakes, saltedcaramel, and smooth buttery buttercream
To make the cupcakescaramel flavoured, I decided to subtly alter my standard vanilla cupcake recipe by swapping half of the sugar for dark brown sugar, which gave the cakes a darker colour and richer caramel-like flavour
Needless to say, my in-house taste testers (otherise know as my two daughters) were delighted when they got to try the saltedcaramel chocolate cupcakes
In the bowl of a stand mixer combine the dry ingredients - flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. I enjoy eating cupcakes (apart from overly sweet buttercream) but I’m not very good at making them, the best ones I’ve made were my Red Wine Cupcakes and Guinness Cupcakes these were chocolate based surprisingly and turned out well, but my attempts of normal vanilla cupcakes haven’t gone down so well

I had never tried actual salt flakes on a cake but my gosh the Anglesea Sea Salt Flakes combined so well with the sweetness of the cakes, they were delicious – all I would say is use it sparingly, a few cupcakes had larger flakes and Jon thought they were a little too powerful
Now, I’m not going to pretend I’ve eaten all the cupcakes out there, but I’d wager actual money that these over-iced dusty sponges are just examples of bad cakes, pure and simple
