Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 600 g stewing steak
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ¼ swede
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 parsnip
  • 400 ml beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  •  
  • Braised red cabbage
  • 1 red cabbage, shredded (not too thin)
  • 1 large or 2 small Bramley apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion, peeled and sliced
  • Sprinkle of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Splash of apple juice (about a small wine glass full)
  • Salt and pepper
