On a personal note, I’m thrilled with my copy of the book and have already cooked three fab recipes. This week has been another social whirl, with the launch of a fabulous new AGA cookbook by Mary Berry and Lucy Young
The last time someone asked me to make a Victoria sponge I used the same method just baking it in two sponge tins instead of a tray and then layering with strawberry jam and double cream sweetened with a little icing sugar
This is clearly not a photo of my food tonight, I have resorted to using the one from the website. It was a lovely meal but my photo didn't look particularly appetising
I adore Mary Berry, the absolute Queen of Baking here in the UK. A beautiful person, so extremely talented and has dedicated her career to help us perfect our home baking
I'm not a huge fan of Mary Berry, and my views on the whole GBBO caravan have already been documented - I wouldn't know exactly what happened in recent episodes, because I'm not watching the latest series, but I'd just like to say that the suggestion of 'naughty editing' by the BBC to make more out of the Baked Alaska issue than was there, painting a darker picture of the actions of one of the contestants, only goes to convince me that I'm right, and this show is not really much better than Jeremy Kyle
Recipe Junkie and the Attack of the Custard Creams

It was a great start to the new series with our favourite Queen of the kitchenMary Berry. The show featured MaryBerry’s cherry cake which was baked in a ring and was drizzled with icing, almonds and cherries
This is my problem with baking guys, I have zero patience for all the waiting around between steps. A quick summary of my thoughts on that weeks show, followed by how I attempted one of the featured bakes

I managed to some how pull through and pipe all the biscuits, in the end I wouldn’t say my whirls would get a very good score, being the very big critic of my own food I would say in Paul and Mary’s words…’although the biscuits taste nice, I notice there isn’t much definition in your whirls’
The recipe is from MaryBerry’s Desserts and I’d had my eye on it for a while. I am linking this to the Great Blogger’s Bake Off, hosted by Mummy Mishaps
