Ingredients

  • 1  Large onion. chopped
  • ½  Medium celeriac root. peeled and chopped
  • 250-300 g  Mushrooms. sliced
  • 1  large carrot. peeled and chopped
  • 1  Large parsnip. peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup  Washed red lentils
  • ½ cup  Washed pearl barley
  • Large pinch Dried mixed herbs
  • Pinch Mace (optional)
  • 1.5-2.0 litres  Vegetable stock
  • a few splashes Light olive oil
  • one per person Thick slice wholemeal/granary bread
  • 1  Clove of garlic.split
  • Splash olive oil
