That creamy layer just makesthiscornflake slice a bit more exciting. No baking needed, just some time to chill the layers, and you can help yourself to a slice of this
It's ages since I have made this cake, it's one I used to do quite regularly. Take off the heat, and stir with a wooden spoon until the chocolate melts and the chocolate-butter mixture is completely smooth and without lumps
Chocolate ganache is so versatile that you can use them for frosting, layering ortomake truffles. That's it your chocolate ganache is ready for frosting or layering
When I was at Uni my Mum’s friend used to send me food parcels which always contained a great big block of chocolate crispie cake – it made me VERY popular in Halls – imagine how much more popular I would have been if I had been able to whip up a batch at the drop of a hat
I had to convert US measures to UK ones, but I moreorless did what the recipe stated for once. it's such a simple recipe, it's barely more than a sentence long anyway
I would suggest adding less Bailey's for the drizzle and maybe even stirring a little icing sugar in tomake it a little sweeter as it's nice to have that difference
The really wonderful thing about thisis that it is one pot cooking at its best, you prepare all your vegetables and pop them in the bottom of the pan, the lamb is placed on top and all the juices from the lamb drip down into the vegetables and flavour them, as thisis slow cooked the lamb is meltingly tender and the anchovies have been absorbed by the meat and flavour it perfectly
This cake is also different from other bakes as it substitutes butter with coconut oil and coconut butter therefore making it a great vegan option, the coconut oil also makes it deliciously gooey and fudgy and in fact I would makethis cake even for non-vegans out there as I have never been able to achieve such a gorgeous, moreish texture
In mitigation, however, I didn't have the requisite fruit to hand. On investigation, of course, it seems that there is some debate as to whether these actually originated from Florence, as the name suggests, or from Austria
