Ingredients

  • 500 g rice ( I used basmati rice )
  • 250 g split Urad Daal (Safed adad daal)
  • Salt to taste
  • 200 g sour yogurt (Khatta Dahi) Vegan can omit yogurt totally or use an alternative.
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Tsp. Fruit salt ( ENO)
  • For the filling
  • 1 small bowl of Green Chutney Recipe here
  • For the Tempering ( Vaghar )
  • 2 tbsp raw sesame seeds
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Tbsp Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • 1 Tbsp Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 5-6 green chillies cut lengthwise
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • Pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • Freshly chopped coriander leaves
  • Desiccated coconut
