Andrew's three cakes were cherry & almond, strawberry & vanilla and lemon & elderflower. This week's showstopper was to make a spectacular three tiered floral cake
Although McVities won the day in Court, and JaffaCakes remained, erm, cakes, a tabloid newspaper subsequently polled its readers who firmly declared that, in their opinion, a JaffaCake was most definately a biscuit
Imagine our surprise when The Great British Bake Offs first technical challenge was JaffaCakes. Here at Pinch of Nom we’ve been talking about 1 Syn Each JaffaCakes for a few days now. There are quite a few recipes for Jaffacakes, but most of them are around 2 syns each, but these are an incredible 1 syn. You’ll notice that these 1 Syn Each JaffaCakes have a drizzle of chocolate on top to keep the syns down
My son Sam adores JaffaCakes above all biscuits and I kind of love them myself. If you are not a fan of orange marmalade, these cakes can easily be filled with the jam of your choice instead – raspberry and chocolate work really well together
Think Jaffacakes - but with a rich dark base instead of a light sponge, and an orange filling made from fresh orange juice and zest, topped with delicious dark chocolate
Baking the cake part as cupcakes was really quick and made it easy to crumble. To celebrate chocolate week Rangemaster, the maker of incredibly lovely cookers I would love to have, were lovely enough to send me a box goodies to make cake pops

We all a good biscuit don’t we, digestives, bourbon biscuits, Custard Creams or even those round smiley faced biscuits with the cream and jam centres but there’s one that always has me eating more than one, the JaffaCake
The next step was the genoise, an Italian cake that is quite dry and used for a lot of patisserie, it’s generally soaked with a syrup and used in layer cakes and entremets
JaffaCake Flower Bouquet for Mother's Day. Roll out the pink and yellow fondant icing and cut out cupcake shapes and flowers, stick them to the green fondant covered side using a little water
Jaffacakes, in Christmas flavours. There both pretty chunky but with a bit of a whisk round, they become runny enough to top a Jaffacake but not so runny that it all falls off when you cover them with chocolate
