Homemade cranberry sauce

  • 500 g cranberries
  • 11 tbsp Cointreau (optional)
  • 1 Zest and juice 1 orange
  • 1100 g caster sugar
  • 12 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 Ingredients 500g cranberries 1tbsp Cointreau (optional) Zest and juice 1 orange 100g caster sugar 2tbsp maple syrupPut the cranberries, Cointreau (if using) and the orange zest and juice in a pan, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  • 1 Add the caster sugar and stir until it dissolves completely. Add the maple syrup. Simmer for 4 mins or until the cranberries burst.
  • 1 Transfer to a serving bowl and leave to cool completely.
  • 1 TOP TIP: Cranberry sauce can end up with a skin on it by the time it reaches the table. To avoid that, let it cool in the pan, then give it a good stir before you spoon it into the serving bowl.
