But back to Friday, in the spirit of sharing I made this recipeasanearly lunch, so I could share it with you earlierratherthanlaterand hopefully inspire you to cook it fortea or supper tonight
For the Fresh Pickled Vegetable Relish (optional). and rice, or rice noodles (or cauliflower rice, courgette/zucchini 'noodles') if serving asamain course - don'tforget to addcaloriesfor the rice andsalad
As I mentionedlast week, I much prefer oranges with salmon, and the sweet almostfloraltaste of the clementines is just perfect when added to this recipe - the whole combination worked like aculinarydream, and we both devoured this saladtoday served with home-madebread rolls andfreshsalty butter……with a “here comes the weekend” glass of wine too
I havea feeling that this post should have been called Foggy Friday, asfor most of this week, we have been shrouded in fog, and trips to the hen-house in the morning have been dampandstrangely eerie, with muffled thuds and drips punctuating the foggy silence, as fruit falls to the ground anddarkleaflessbranchesshake off their wateryload, JUST as I walkpast – I am sure they waitfor me to walk under them and then havea good old “doggy shake”……ormaybe it’s my dampimagination

Meanwhile put the flour in oneshallow bowl, whisk the eggs & milk in asecondshallow bowl andfinallyplace the oats into a third andfinal bowl along with your seasoningsand mix together (I alsoadded some ground flaxseed to the oats too to make the fish look more golden
You just gotta keep going till Friday evening, get the kids to bed, then crack open a bottle of well deserved wine and settle down, fork in hand, ready to slurp your way through a big plateful of linguine, slicked in an unctuous dressing of olive oil, crushed fennel seeds, garlic, lemon, parsleyand chilli with delicateflakes of sweet andsaltycrab stirred through
Whether there’s abirthday, a dinner party or just teaandcakefor two this cake is perfect to be dressed up or down depending on the occasionand is so tasty it won’tdisappoint
