On my feed days I ate what I normally do and felt no need to gorge. “If you were sticking to your fastdays, then in terms of cardiovascular disease risk, it didn’t seem to matter if you were eating a high-fat or low-fat diet on your feed (non-fast) days,” she said
My Monday Meal Plan this week has slid to a Tuesday – as you know if you have been reading and following my blog over the last few days, I have been SO busy with a houseful of guests, cleaning, cooking, gardening, packing (I am off on my travels tomorrow) and that left me only a few hours, or should I say and hour, in evening to write my blog, do round-ups (the Herbs on Saturday round-up is following on later today) and all the other stuff I love doing here
With a weight loss of one stone over seven weeks now, and that includes the odd blip now and then, as I was travelling and attending press daysand events, I am really pleased with how I feel, as well as the obvious weight loss of course
And yes, I have not posted in two days, which is VERY unusual for me, but I have lots of lovely recipes to share with you over the next few days, as well as some reviews, news, giveaways and a weekly meal plan too……along with photos and my daily thoughts, I hope to be back on track (excuse the pun – all this talk of trains has obviously affected me) very soon
But it’s still wonderful and doesn’t taste at all like a dietrecipe. I’ve adapted it from my favourite Indian Cookery Book, Reza’s Indian Spice - it’s simpler and I’ve taken out most of the fat and reduced the amount of coconut milk
I often hanker after tasty “fast food” types of food when I am on a diet, and although I have never really found a decent chicken kebab outside of Cyprus (or Turkey and Greece) I do love a good take-away kebab now and then
But, it doesn’t have to be that way, and after a couple of experiments on some willing guinea pigs, I have devised a low-calorie and totally delectable pancake recipe for fastdays OR for a healthy breakfast for those on the go, Blueberry and Oat Pancakes with Cinnamon
Mexican Layered Salad and home-made Chicken Kebabs. Although, I DID manage to complete my FIRST fast day of the week yesterday, as they were out all day
The time between Christmas and New Year is a strange one on the culinary front – there is a plethora of sweets, cakes, pies, biscuits and other rich pickings from the savoury buffet table, as well as piles of turkey no doubt and of course the Christmas cake and pudding that usually last well into Spring
Flavour – this is the savoury x-factor of the food world, you might not be. with a good splodge of spiced apple sauce, I managed to stave off the hunger
Breakfast. Roast Chickenand Quince Bake – Recipe to Follow. I am finding myself being drawn more and more to comfort food recipes, as autumn deepens and the first frosts appear, and so it’s with great pleasure that I share my hearty Hungarian Savoury Minced Beef, this is a real comfort meal and is low in calories, but, it is also suitable for a mid-week family supper – frugal and thrifty it may be, but it certainly doesn’t lack in flavour
Not entirely – that would be a very bad idea. basically, on the “points” diet that I have always followed, (and I think that the Pro Points diet may be the same) if you KNOW you have a day coming up where you are going out for a meal or you will be eating MORE than your daily recommended daily points allowance, you can “save” some of your points up from days where you go BELOW your daily allowance, BUT only over the period of ONE WEEK = Fastdays then
But with the start back to school for the Autumn term, my ideas turned to portable food that would be handy for anyone who wanted to lovely packed lunch on their fastdays……this salad is an adapted recipe from an OLD Weight Watcher’s cookbook and I have added my stamp on it – it’s full of flavour, hearty and filling and I just LOVE the minty lemon dressing
I’m persevering, although some weeks I think I simply eat too much food on feastdays (three meals out in a row doesn’t really help if you are trying to lose weight
The Marmalade has been made, for my grand entry into the World’s Original Marmalade Awards, British Farmhouse Breakfast Week is over and January is about to slither out in either an avalanche of snow or a deluge of flooding, and, it is another Meal Planning Monday post – WHERE did last week go
I always makes a batch of this up along with my soup recipe in readiness for my two low-calorie fastdays, as it’s all prepared and ready to snack on, as well as making a GREAT fruity kick-start breakfast for the start of the day
I am, in case you noticed, very pleased with it, and this is a recipe that can be served on NON fastdays too, with a drop of wine and an hectare of crusty bread
