chop all the vegetables.
melt the butter in a pan.
sauté the onion and garlic in the melted butter for a few minutes till soft.
add all of the chopped vegetables to the soup maker and add the onions and garlic.
Add the stock and ensure it is up to the minimum level.
Stir and set the machine to the chunky setting.
Serve fresh with crusty bread.

You might want to reduce the amount of vegetables as sometimes a bit more like a stew than a soup. Depends how you like it.
