I like cooking this in the late afternoon and then putting it in the crockpot on low. Add the water, rice with contents of seasoning packet and soup mix

The thing is with a slow cooker is that when cooking meat, you often need to sear the meat in advance on the hob, and then side dishes need to be prepared separately – rice, potatoes, vegetables etc
I didn't have any stewing beef or lamb in the house, and no way of getting to the shops to get any, but I did have some leftover cooked chicken, and another of Todd's favourites is a nice and creamysoup

topped it up with water, the diced left over chicken and half a sachet ofcreamed coconut. bought it to the boil and let it simmer to cook the rice, the starch and the coconut cream did the job of thickening it up
Serve with a tradition potof fresh mint tea and your meal is complete. When you are ready for dinner, the chicken is fork tender, falling off the bone, and dinner is ready to go
