Beautifully smokey and sweet sweet tomato chutney - it's the ideal accompaniment to your Christmas cheese board or spread on your turkey butties on boxing day
The kitchen will be filled with the tantalising spicy smells of Christmas. It's a recipe I made up having read the ingredients lists of other shop-bought chutneys or in recipe books, and then looked in my fridge and in my larder to see what I had and what needed using up
Its always nice to have something a bit tangy to whip out on boxing day to jazz up your leftover turkey and ham – last year I made a chilli chutney, but this year I wanted something softer, something more evocative of the flavours of Christmas … all the warming spices of cinnamon and clove and ginger with none of the chilli heat
I love christmaschutney it goes so well with cold meats and cheese after the big day. Ive been using this recipe from nigellas christmas book for years I’ve adapted it to my own over the years so here is my tweaked version
I think that the reason its called Christmaschutney is that it goes well with leftover turkey, ham or cheeses, none of the ingredients themselves are particularly christmassy
This was so good, I need to make some more in preparation for Christmas hampers. Sorry for the rubbish photo - but it was just a snap taken on my phone
I've "discovered" Christmas cake only after moving to Ireland those many years ago. In Poland you would find a lot of different cakes baked for Christmas, but none could be called "the ultimate Polish Christmas cake", as it will hugely depend on the region of Poland, family traditions etc
This time from Tesco and by cook Mary Berry for Spiced Christmas Cupcakes. Unlike Delia's Christmas cake kit which I tried out a few weeks ago, the instructions give you the weights of the ingredients, which means I will be able to share them if you would like to try them yourself
Yup - it's AUGUST and I'm making Christmas cakes. However, I did have a couple of bottles of Mulled Wine left from last Christmas and a bottle of Triple Sec Curaco (bought from MandS) - orange brandy and cognac
