I made this recipe again for a friend’s birthday recently and I thought I’d take some new photos and post it again as hopefully I’ve improved my photos a little in the last couple of years
I took it into work for everyone to try and it went down well. I also had some left over oranges which I wasn’t too sure on what to do with, and then the two just clicked together…a literally orangecake with a classic andyummy dark chocolate ganache
I have only had Terry’s ChocolateOranges in my life for a few years. Terry’s chocolateoranges happen to be one of his favourite chocolates, so for his birthday over the weekend I knew that chocolateoranges would fit into the equation somewhere

If you're not looking to make the GF DF variety, and just want normal cake bottoms, you could make plain or chocolatecake batter, and just put a tbsp or so in the bottom of muffin tins instead - or, you could make Jaffa muffins by using the orangeand melted chocolate toppings on top of muffins - or even better, on top of chocolate Magic Bean Cake muffins, for a really delicious twist
Black forest gateau was always my favourite as a kid, and now I’m enjoying the festive black forest hot chocolate drinks at my favourite coffee shops this Christmas
This time, though, I’ve gone fororangeand dark chocolate. It has been a while since I made a Battenberg cakeand when I do make one I usually I go for a coffee and walnut one
The frosting is amazing I could literally eat it straight from the bowl forgoing the cake BUT if I did that I would miss out on cake so I managed to restrain myself
I made this as a birthday cake (for an adult), partly because it is a bit different and quite fun. The idea for this chocolateorangecake, came about from a chat amongst friends, swapping recipe ideas
I love this time of year for getting creative both with crafts and in the kitchen. My featured Bake of the Week this week is inspired by Easter creativity and comes from Foodie Quine
