I’ve help members of my family celebrate birthdaysand yet there is no cake for me. eldest sister’s birthdaycake, whose birthday is also the same day as my brother-in-law
I love coffee, I love walnuts and I love cake. Lynne and I try to follow a sensible eating and exercise routine, as much as possible, and we believe that as long as we’re doing this, there’s always time for a little cake
Cakes that quietly loaf about, unassumingly loitering at the back of the cakestand, ready to pack a fruity punch when you cut into them are not really my thing
This is a bit fancier version of our Very Fluffy Pecan & Vanilla CoffeeCake, made with walnuts instead of pecans and additional layer of delicious buttercream
If I had to choose any cake in the world, it would always be Coffeeand Walnut. Made as clean as possible, this cake contains no refined sugars, no dairy (if using a vegan protein blend) and is also completely gluten-free and Paleo friendly, too

It would be the work of minutes as Sainsbury's is literally just down the road. Now, how easy would it be, to go off to the local supermarket and buy a Coffee & Walnut cake, eh
So simple, yet so amazing and so indulgent. ) You can of course add any additional ingredients you like – raisin and nuts would work well, as well as any other type of chocolates to replace the Maltesers
Busy making cakes for my brother-in-law's big birthday bash this weekend. Delia suggests making a mouselline icing, which would be less sweet ( sugar syrup and egg yolk) but I don't want to try a new icing type at this stage as I need the cake for Saturday, and the cake has to travel for several hours
I had never tasted Coffee Walnut Cake until I moved to England with ThermoHubby John. So here I am on the one hand with a personally tried and tested recipe that is missing the walnuts in the cake, and on the other hand a recipe I haven’t tried that does
Both the cakeand the icing can be made ahead and assembled on the day you want to serve it. I’ve seen a few comments recently on various coffeecakes so I thought I’d give the one in Nigella’s Kitchen a go
