Kiwi - quartered and sliced. As much as I love the Great British BakeOff I will admit that this year I have been a little disappointed with the themes *sorry* and I have found that on a number of weeks I have not been inspired to bake along
Next we have another sandwich cake from Sarah at The Watts Family Begins, this time with raspberries added into the batter and elderflower and mascarpone into the cream and white chocolate fingers around the edge - look how fresh those raspberries are
It's nearly all over *sniff*, what are we all going to do with ourselves without Great British BakeOff on a Tuesday night and baking challenges throughout the week
The linky will be open until the end of November to give everyone a chance to include as many bakes as they like - please only include bakes that have been featured in this series of the show and masterclasses
Add the rest of the icing sugar and beat again - the advantage of using a stand mixer is that you can get the buttercream to be very pale and creamy without any effort
I believe that if you can follow instructions and you have the right equipment you can bake a cake - although there are some of you that would beg to differ (you know who you are
I decided to use the cherries in a CherryandAlmond Frangipane dessert. As I was making a dessert and wanted a slightly thicker and sweeter syrup, I heated the juice gently in a pan and added a teaspoon of cornflour slaked with a little water, once cooked out this created the texture of a cherry pie filling as shown in the first photograph
I have used a classic flaky pastry recipe from an old Be-Ro book that my Nanna gave to me. As always I am joining in with The GreatBloggersBakeOff hosted by the lovely Jenny at Mummy Mishaps
Maybe I'll try to make that cherry cake at some point. Saturday - Becca bakes along (because she starts her first full-time job in a week and so Monday to Friday are taken up with the teaching of children)
I used almondsand hazelnut flavour for the biscotti and they were yummy. The long eclairs were filled with cherry creme pat and the round eclairs were filled with vanilla creme pat
'The Great British Bakeoff - how to turn everyday bakes into show stoppers', EBury the publishers for BBC books have very kindly sent me two copies one for me and one for my Macmillan Cancer coffee morning recipe book sale
It's such a beautiful book and the treats I've baked from it have all been surprising and delicious. Pink went through it and marked the possible cakes that had taken her fancy, then I went through her selection and crossed off a few more (call me a killjoy, but I wasn't going to send her in with just a bowl of 'Naughty Chocolate Icing'), and we came up with this Cherry & Almond Cake
Recipe Junkie and the Attack of the Custard Creams
As I have said before, I do hope to be able to go back to the ones I missed/failed miserably at *cough*custard tart*cough*, however, it's dependent on time and the fact I am likely to be distracted with seasonal baking (I have so many pumpkin bakes in mind, it is a bit ridiculous)
