well, what with doing my Wartime Kitchen and preparing for Christmas, I have not had time to post any mealplans, or indeed any of my new recipes, but, I am rectifying that today with a NEW recipe that’s just right for all the snow and frost we have been having over the last few days – a Scottish inspired Highland Stew
This is a recipe that is suitable for any meal, whether you are on a low-caloriediet or not, and is perfect for the barbecue, when that elusive season arrives
Meal type. I am rather pleased with this recipe, not just because it is very filling and extremely flavoursome, but because my husband, who is NOT following any diet, asked if he could have some for his lunch, as the aromatic fragrance of the lemons, cumin and garlic infused the kitchen and apparently titillated his taste buds
And yes, I have not posted in two days, which is VERY unusual for me, but I have lots of lovely recipes to share with you over the next few days, as well as some reviews, news, giveaways and a weekly mealplan too……along with photos and my daily thoughts, I hope to be back on track (excuse the pun – all this talk of trains has obviously affected me) very soon
I am finding myself being drawn more and more to comfort food recipes, as autumn deepens and the first frosts appear, and so it’s with great pleasure that I share my hearty Hungarian Savoury Minced Beef, this is a real comfortmeal and is low in calories, but, it is also suitable for a mid-week family supper – frugal and thrifty it may be, but it certainly doesn’t lack in flavour
I always makes a batch of this up along with my soup recipe in readiness for my two low-caloriefast days, as it’s all prepared and ready to snack on, as well as making a GREAT fruity kick-start breakfastfor the start of the day
The Marmalade has been made, for my grand entry into the World’s Original Marmalade Awards, British Farmhouse Breakfast Week is over and January is about to slither out in either an avalanche of snow or a deluge of flooding, and, it is another MealPlanning Monday post – WHERE did last week go
Have a VERY happy and healthy Tuesday, and see you later with my VERY late Monday MealPlan. basically, on the “points” diet that I have always followed, (and I think that the Pro Points diet may be the same) if you KNOW you have a day coming up where you are going out for a meal or you will be eating MORE than your daily recommended daily points allowance, you can “save” some of your points up from days where you go BELOW your daily allowance, BUT only over the period of ONE WEEK = Fast days then
I am sharing my latest recipe with you in this post, my FIRST new breakfast recipe, for an easy Full English Breakfast that is baked in the oven, just leaving you to fry, scramble or poach the eggs and make the toast and a pot of tea of course
Diet Food and Comfort Food – Farmhouse Chicken & Vegetable Stew with Dumplings Recipe. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper and allow to cool for a few minutes
Meal type. I really couldn’t tell that I’d used sweetener instead of sugar – I’ve cooked with sweeteners before when I was looking after my mother who was diabetic and while I am still in two minds about the potential pitfalls, I don’t think it hurts to do so occassionally
Perhaps because of that, the meal we ate was relatively higher in fat and calories and even now, if I have time and space in the freezer, I much prefer using a whole chicken
Finely grate the tomatoes and garlic (with the toms, grate the cut. find that non-dieters and non-veggies are all more than happy with this super tasty dish too
I enjoyed this today as part of my fast day menu, (the full week’s menu for the Lavender and Lovage household will follow on) and even Malcolm loved it, although I was kind and served his with some bread and a wee glass of wine
