One easy way to cut back on the calories as well as the cream, cheese, mincemeat, roast potatoes, stuffing and all the other high calorie ingredients is to cook and serve fresh fish
The Fast Diet, as well as on my blog here. But, it doesn’t have to be that way, and after a couple of experiments on some willing guinea pigs, I have devised a low-calorie and totally delectable pancake recipe for fastdays OR for a healthy breakfast for those on the go, Blueberry and Oat Pancakes with Cinnamon
I often hanker after tasty “fast food” types of food when I am on a diet, and although I have never really found a decent chicken kebab outside of Cyprus (or Turkey and Greece) I do love a good take-away kebab now and then
I always makes a batch of this up along with my souprecipe in readiness for my two low-calorie fastdays, as it’s all prepared and ready to snack on, as well as making a GREAT fruity kick-start breakfast for the start of the day
I am rather pleased with this recipe, not just because it is very filling and extremely flavoursome, but because my husband, who is NOT following any diet, asked if he could have some for his lunch, as the aromatic fragrance of the lemons, cumin andgarlic infused the kitchen and apparently titillated his taste buds
Mushrooms or tomatoes on toast, as well as egg on toast is a close second, and when I saw some lovely fresh and VERY seasonal autumn mushrooms at the market the other day, I set out to prove that you CAN have your “on toast” treat on a diet, that is tasty and full of flavour
I am, in case you noticed, very pleased with it, and this is a recipe that can be served on NON fastdays too, with a drop of wine and an hectare of crusty bread
She made much the same dish with late season pheasant which we acquired from one or two of my Dad’s patients and prepared the portions with huge and rather scary poultry scissors
Sunday - Sunday Roast BBQ. Soup – probably a Summer Allotment soup. on the Weight Watcher’s diet, if you don’t use any of your allocated daily points within a seven-day period, they can be “banked” for another day, such as a day when you are going out to dinner, or you are having a few naughty treats
Alternatively, if you aren't on a fasting day this recipe could be taken from delicious to divine with the addition of a generous glug of olive oil and some toasted pine nuts
Although I enjoy my meat-free daysand we do eat a lot of fish too, both of us (my husband in particular) hanker after a big juicy, red steak now and then, and so when I received a sample hamper from the lovely people over at Todenham Manor Farm recently, I was delighted to see some beautiful steaks amongst my meaty booty
