Hello Dear Reader,. I'm a thrifty food blogger but I'm no chef. I cook and write about affordable family food that's easy to cook and can be eaten by all the family
When I think of fruit tarts like this, I immediately think back to my childhood holidays in Switzerland, where they quite frankly make incredible tarts
Add the eggs & extra yolk a,d pulse again. When cooked the tarts will be a rich, even brown colour. 125g cold Butter, cubed. 125g Orange Sugar** (or use Castor Sugar). 125g cold Butter, cubed. 125g Orange Sugar** (or use Castor Sugar)
It can have two different kinds of pastries to make for this egg tart. Then take one of the pastries and slightly push down in the tart mould and push up to the edge, better to push up a bit higher than the edge, it will make the edge won’t flinch
Until last week, an online search for a Bakewell Tart recipe listed lovely traditional tarts, some with a drizzling of plain icing criss-crossed on top
I think it looks rather impressive, considering it didn’t take any effort. While I was assembling the top of my chicken filo pie the other day and wondering what else I could make with the rest of the pastry I had a flash of inspiration and just knew that prosciutto would layer perfectly with it, whenever I think of something completely new to make I have a quick google image to see if it’s been done before, and as an aside, this is what I got when I imaged googled filo pizza, lol
If making mince pies, sprinkle with icing sugar once cooled. Once the mixture starts to bind, ditch the fork and use floured hands to combine into a pastry dough - if it feels too wet then add extra flour
This recipe will make 12 mince pies, but you'll have lots of mincemeat left over to give as gifts in jars or to bake another batch later when they inevitably get eaten without even making it to Christmas Day. 125g shredded vegetable suet. 1 medium Bramley apple, peeled, cored & grated. Stamp out 12 circles of pastry. 125g shredded vegetable suet. 1 medium Bramley apple, peeled, cored & grated
A crisp and light batter, studded with Colourful & refreshing fruits. Here, I am adding ground Almonds to the batter which gives this dessert a wonderfully, nutty flavour & makes an attractive dinner party dessert
Now this is my version where I have used Filo Pastry just to give the tarts a different texture, but if you want to go original just replace the readymade Filo Pastry with readymade Puff Pastry
This is an easy meal idea that is great for an informal dinner with friends, as it can be assembled before your guests arrive and then can go in the oven 20 minutes before you want to eat
